La Botilleria

Tonight I visited La Botilleria which is a stone’s throw from the very touristy street of Navas (loaded with restaurants begging you to come in, with photos of their food and multi-lingual menus) – a massive foodie red flag. La Bot was great. We checked it out earlier today and were so pleased with the choice, we stayed for 5 glasses of wine.

They had great recommendations on the wall – all local or Spanish – and tasty dishes with each wine. First we had a beef stew (fine); then a lovely fried prawn on a tostada (tasty); followed by grilled turkey on toast with an interesting sauce and then finally a croquette which I think was salt cod but who knows! We also independent order a plate of jamon and a chocolate brownie. The wines were the real stars though. Juan Gil, Abadal, a lovely Pedro Ximenez sherry and many others…

This was the only bar in Granada that we decided to stay put and just enjoy. Maybe it was our tired feet on the last night or maybe it was just the great wine, tapas and the Robbie Williams soundtrack.

Whatever it was, I had a great evening. EUR 37 for 5 glasses of wine each, 4 tapas, big plate of jamon and a chocolate brownie…dreading our return to London!
